The Future
Everybody wants to know about the future, especially in these uncertain times. In fact that’s the number one reason why the psychic industry has been thriving even while the rest of the economy has not.
It’s completely natural to want to know the future, but it’s important to understand how a psychic works and what they can do so you don’t get ripped off, misled, or disappointed.
The old image of a psychic looking into a crystal ball to predict the future represents a major, old fashioned and out of date perceptional of what psychics are and what they can do for you. Psychics can’t “predict the future” or many of them would drop out of the business and just play the lotto or bet on horse races.
A psychic ability isn’t a monitor into the future. Nobody can predict the future. One of my favorite books, “Way of the Peaceful Warrior”, really sums it up. In the book, a young gymnast finds guidances and life lessons from a mysterious older man who works at a gas station. (Think “The Karate Kid”, but 10 years earlier and no fighting!) The mentor, named Socrates, is very wise and insightful and can usually tell what the student (Dan) is thinking or about to do.
One day Dan asks Socrates, “Are you psychic? You seem to know what I’m thinking and you can predict the future.” Socrates laughs and says essentially:
“Knowledge of the future comes from a clear understanding of the present.”
I’ve found this to be true. For example, have you ever had a friend who is always dating the wrong guy? You can see this clearly, but she can’t. She may ask questions like “Why isn’t it working out?” and wonder what is going to happen in the relationship.
But you know what is going to happen, don’t you? That doesn’t mean you are necessarily psychic or can predict the future, it comes from you being able to see her situation a lot clearer than she does. But if you told her what is going to happen, she wouldn’t believe you.
By the way, this has happened to me as a coach and a friend numerous times. I can see a behavior in the other person, they deny it, and you can tell things are not going to go well.
Another thing. Think of people you know who are successful and have a good attitude. If you had to guess where they would be in a year, you’d probably say they will be better off. And they usually are. At the same time, we all have friends who are always struggling with money or getting into trouble. You can probably guess that in a year, not much will have changed unless they make the change happen.
So when it comes to your life and consulting a psychic about your future, look at it as an opportunity to take responsibility for your life as it is now. And a good psychic will give you great insight into yourself, your motivations, and your “blind spots”, things you don’t see about yourself. They may also be able to give you insight into the people in your life and how you relate to each other, and what will happen if things keep going the way they are.
But try not to go to a psychic with questions like “Will I be happy?” or “Will I make a lot of money?” and then hope the psychics answer is all you need. Psychics are not life savers, they are advisers. Those kinds of questions come from a disempowered place that presumes you are just a passive observer who has no say in your own life. And hoping that the future will be different doesn’t usually change anything.
A good psychic will see your unique beauty and gifts, will recognize your inner intelligence and provide a strong and intimate intuitive connection that can help you get to the bottom of your life’s most important issues. If you enter a psychic reading for the future with an attitude of exploration and responsibility, then you will more than likely get great results.
